We are currently recruiting a Manager, Tax & Estate Planning in our Saint John, New Brunswick office, to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Tax & Estate Planning, you will be a subject matter expert and collaborate with Advisors and other planning professionals to provide clients with comprehensive wealth management solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare complex and customized financial plans for income, estate, and savings plans.
Summarize legal documents and provide commentary such as wills, family trusts and shareholder agreements.
Provide advanced tax and estate planning including AMT recovery plans, new TOSI rules, triggering gains and using CDA to fund lifestyle, surplus strips/value of, capital gain reserves/exemptions, subject matter expert on organizational structure or restructure needs for complex clients, and sale of business options and tax ramifications including purchase agreement analysis.
Train junior analysts and review junior analysts work.
Creation, presentation and delivery of monthly tax calls, new Advisor training modules, special requests per Advisor for a client and case studies
Communicate directly with clients and collaborate with external consultants such as accountants and lawyers to get tasks done.
Qualifications
University degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or similar field; combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
CPA designation required
5+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience
In-depth taxation course would be considered an asset
Extensive knowledge and technical proficiency related to finance and tax planning strategies, issues and trends
Ability to communicate complex planning ideas in a comprehensive and practical manner, including a strong understanding of client needs and expectations
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in the organization
Strong proficiency in Excel and Word
Exceptional planning, organizational and time management skills
Previous experience in handling confidential or sensitive information with integrity
High attention to detail and accuracy
Able to manage ambiguity by understanding and recognizing priorities, deadlines and has a sense of urgency
Curiosity and action-orientated mindset
A broad technical knowledge of financial products would be considered a significant asset
A proficiency in various reporting and presentation tools would be considered an asset
Additional Designations would be considered an asset (CLU, TEP, CFP, CFA, LLQP, CIM, Mutual Funds Licensed)
